JOIN Our Board and represent Sint Eustatius!
Het Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied is looking for a new board member to join our team. The foundation is dedicated to promoting activities in the fields of science, literature, visual arts, music, dance, theater, arts and cultural education, heritage conservation, and nature preservation in the Dutch Caribbean. We provide financial support to individuals and organizations, with self-reliance being a key focus. As a board member, you will play a vital role in helping preserve and strengthen culture and nature, locally and in the Caribbean region.
We are seeking candidates who:
- Have strong contacts and a wide network within the cultural sector on Statia and the Caribbean region; Have an affinity with the goals and focus areas of het CCG;
- Have proven leadership and governance experience;
- Have broad insights into general and local organizational and cultural matters;
- Have sufficient time available for board responsibilities and commitment to the organization’s mission and values; Complement the affinities and qualities of the current board members;
- Contribute with strategic direction, governance, policy development and decision-making; Assist in policy development and decision-making
- Ensure organizational accountability and transparency; Collaborate with fellow board members and senior management.
Board member activities (always in a joint effort with the office):
The (first) local contact person;
- Advising on projects for CCG support & possibilities; Guiding CCG subsidy requests;
- Connecting local cultural projects; Participating in boardmeetings;
- Organizing CCG events such as Cultural Prize Awarding’s and CCG work visits; Representative for official relations and connections.

Time commitment & compensation:
- The board member role is a pro deo position; Weekly 1 hour on project advising;
- Monthly 2 hours on project advising head office;
- Yearly 24 hours on preparation and participation 4 boardmeetings (3x online / 1x physical on one of the 6 islands*)
*CCG covers all travel, accommodation- and food/beverage costs for this physical boardmeeting.
Because this boardmeeting takes place on one of the 6 islands, it is always combined with a nice 2 to 3 day program of visiting local projects and presentations on the island.
